Region 5 of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association covers Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. I’m looking forward to the 2018 Cattle Industry Convention & NCBA Trade Show – you should come with me! I hope to see a full room at our regional meeting at the convention. If you haven’t been to the Cattle Industry Convention in the past, there are so many things for convention first-timers to look forward to. If you’ve been, then you know it’s a can’t miss event in the cattle industry.

2018 will be my third trip to the convention, and I couldn’t be more excited to leave chilly Oregon weather this winter to head south for a couple days of sunshine, networking, and learning. I always come home from these conventions excited and inspired to try new things on the ranch.

There’s a lot to be excited about.

ANCW

CattleWomen, kick off the week with the American National CattleWomen at their annual meetings and Ag Tour on Monday, January 29 and Tuesday, January 30. This year’s tour includes stops at a carrot farm, JBS packinghouse, and large dairy. View the ANCW Schedule online.

Cattlemen’s College

Next up, is the 25th Anniversary of Cattlemen’s College! These sessions are a cattleman’s number one resource for education and profit-building advice. There are tons of sessions packed full of thought-provoking conversation and ideas. We’ll kick off Cattlemen’s College with an opening session titled “Going Big With Beef,” from Rob Lynch, CEO, Arby’s. View the complete schedule online and choose the classes you’d like to attend – it’s a tough decision. Don’t forget to add Cattlemen’s College to your registration! There’s a Member Education Package full registration this year that will add Cattlemen’s College to your itinerary.

Convention

DRUMMOND+REE+-+Photo+7.17.14+002The convention and trade show officially kick off on January 31 at the opening general session featuring Ree Drummond, Pioneer Woman. Ree is a writer, photographer, ranch wife & mother from Oklahoma. She operates the Pioneer Woman Mercantile and authored a best-selling cook book. This is sure to be a good session!

On Wednesday, there’s also a change for Young Beef Leaders to network at a special reception. Convention first-timers can attend an orientation to learn how to get the most out of their convention experience.

StartCF_50th_CMYK_Vertical_v Thursday morning with the CattleFax Outlook Seminar. This event is always well attended and serves to keep you up-to-date on evolving markets, and provide perspectives on the livestock and meat industries. Regional meetings on Thursday offer a chance to meet with producers from your area and learn about what’s going on in states near you.

Join your fellow cattle producers on Thursday night for an exciting Phoenix Fiesta event! NCBA will be slowly revealing details on this event and from what I’ve seen, you won’t want to miss it!

Trade Show

You’ll spend HOURS taking in everything the NCBA Trade Show has to offer. This is the largest, most innovative trade show in the cattle industry. Acres of trade show vendors bring something for everyone to enjoy. A live demonstration area will feature cattle handling and care techniques. Multiple trade show receptions offer an opportunity to network with trade show vendors and other attendees. Check out everything the trade show has to offer here.

Join the 2018 Convention Marketing Ambassadors on November 15 to discuss the NCBA Trade Show in a Twitter Chat.11_15_cattlecon18_twitter_chat
